This week the children have been exploring shapes, both 2D and 3D. They began the week by identifying different 3D shapes and constructed them using play doh and cocktail sticks, this allowed the children to see how many sides their shape had. Following on from this the children were able to identify the properties of some shapes, recognising how many faces, edges and vertices the shape has. The Y4 children then went on to compare and classify quadrilaterals, they were able to describe their shapes by suggesting how many sides, pairs of parallel sides, equal sides and how many right angles it has.
