Science in the kitchen.

Year 5 have become scientists in the kitchen! To finish our unit on materials, we thought about reversible and irreversible changes. We also found out how some food substances react with others.

We baked egg-less chocolate cake, but learnt that baking powder and vinegar mixed together create a reaction that allowed our cakes to rise. The ones without vinegar were as hard as rocks! We also make bread, jelly and cooked eggs in different ways.
