22.3.21 A message from Emmanuel

Dear <PARENT>

I am sure that you are as excited as we are that <NAME> is now just months away from becoming an Emmanuel student.  I know that this year has been strange and challenging, and that many Year 6 students will be feeling very uncertain about school because of the disruptions they have faced in their education over the past 12 months.  Please be assured that we are fully committed to ensuring we do all we can to help make <NAME>’s move to Emmanuel College as smooth and as enjoyable as possible.

Although we don’t know what the next few months will bring, it could be unlikely that we are able to run the events and activities that we would normally have in order to welcome you to Emmanuel.  However, over the next few months, we will seek to find new and engaging ways to ensure you and <NAME> have all the information you need for September through our virtual programme.  If the relaxing of COVID-19 national restrictions goes ahead as planned, we do plan to hold transition days in College for all students.  We will communicate with you over the next half term regarding the launch of the virtual programme and planned transition days.

The virtual programme will run over 6 weeks and will allow parents to gain information regarding policies and expectations, whilst allowing students to gain an insight into what Emmanuel is like and how they will spend their time here.  The weeks will relate to the following topics:

·         Meeting the Year 7 Pastoral Team

·         The Year 7 area

·         School and PE uniform

·         Daily routines

·         Specialist subjects and co-curricular activities

·         Welfare and support in school

·         Personal development

In the meantime, you may find that the information on our Parents and Student hub answers some of the practical questions you may have at this time.  Here you will find information in the parents’ handbook and be able to explore some of the things we offer here at Emmanuel College.

It would be helpful at this time for us to start preparing <NAME>’s electronic record.  I would be grateful, therefore, if you could complete the following two mandatory forms by Friday 26 March 2021:

1.       Personal details and contact informationThis should be completed only once, by a parent who has primary caring responsibilities for <NAME>.  The recommended internet browsers to complete this form are Google Chrome and Safari.

2.       Medical needs and GDPR consent.  Our privacy notice explaining use of data can be found here.

In addition, if your child is currently eligible for free school meals, please complete this form and return via email to finance@emmanuelctc.org.uk as soon as possible.

If your circumstances have changed and you no longer intend to take up the place offered to your child, please reply indicating that you are declining the place, so that it can be offered to another student.

Yours sincerely

Matthew Waterfield

Principal

Emmanuel are pleased to be able to write and outline the application arrangements for any current Year 6 students who wish to apply to Emmanuel College for September 2021 start. Prospective parents can also access this information from their website, found below.

At this time of year, Emmanuel would normally be welcoming prospective Year 6 students into College to meet their staff and see the facilities for themselves. Unfortunately, Emmanuel are not able to do so this year and have sought to provide online all the information that would normally be provided to students and parents at this time. The Admissions page on their website, which can be accessed below includes our prospectus, a video to introduce some of our staff and students, frequently asked questions and a link for parents to apply online.

If any current students or parents have any questions about our admissions process that aren’t covered on our website, please do not hesitate to contact Dr Katy Benbow, Assistant Vice Principal (Academic Services) directly via admissions@emmanuelctc.org.uk.
