Young Carers

At Brighton Avenue Primary School we want Young Carers to be recognised, feel supported and know they have someone to speak to if they need help.  We have a Young Carers Policy and we are raising awareness with the school amongst the children, staff and governors.

Cycling Skills with Lou from Sustrans! 14.7.25. Today we were visited by Lou who helped us learn some bike skills. Some of our young carers tried a bike for the first time and did really well. Franklin was a pro cyclist and was showing his peers what to do. We had a go at doing some bike checks too - this is to make sure the bike is safe before we ride on it. We had such a great time and the time went so fast we have asked Lou to come back next term so we can do some more.

Summer Picnic - 10th July. We had the perfect weather for our picnic :) We enjoyed some snacks and played some games with the parachute.

6th May 2025 - We were visited by Alisa from Connected Carers. She brought some crafts along for us to try. Alisa talked about how the young carers can register with her service and access activities and support outside of school. See the leaflet below for all of the information.

It's the start of May and Spring time is here! We spent some glorious time in the Mindful Garden looking after the plants and pulling up weeds. We all planted a sunflower seed to take home and look after too :)

Young Carers Action Day - March 2025. We raised awareness of the role of a young carer and designed posters to display in school.

October fun - celebrating Halloween with messy fun and some spooky biscuit decorating!

Did you know? Every Friday we have a drop in for young carers to come and talk about anything that is on their mind - whether that's home life or worries about school. So please, if your child is a young carer, please encourage them to pop in!
