Family Support Worker

Hello,

My name is Gemma Maughan, your Family Support Worker with almost 20 years experience of working with families throughout local communities. My previous role was as an 'Outreach Worker' in South Tyneside local authority where I supported families through targeted interventions, group work or through engagement in the community.

My role is very varied and I can offer support in a range of ways. I always welcome opportunities to speak to parents so please come and say hello or come in for a hot drink and a chat!

At times, life can be challenging and family circumstances can change very quickly. It's important that you can get support in quickly to ensure any difficulties do not become worse. We want the best for your children here at Brighton Avenue Primary and believe a strong home-school approach works really well to ensure children achieve their best.

Examples of the kind of support available to you are:

- Parent drop in's.

- Signposting to support services.

- Support with attendance and punctuality.

- Assessments and plans for TAF support.

- Uniform shop.

- Family Learning Workshops.

- Mindful Garden development/Wellbeing Time.

- Young Carer's Group.

- School council meetings/school development.

- One to one interventions with children targeted to their needs.

Please come and chat if you have any questions, concerns or worries. I am usually outside at drop off and pick up times on the Brighton Road entrance. You can also ask to speak to me at the main office or if it is easier, call school where you will be transferred through

I look forward to meeting you all.

Gemma
