Family Support Worker

My name is Jill Dawson, your Family Support Worker with over 40 years’ experience of working with families within the school setting.

Research has shown that… a child is more likely to become a skilled learner, keen reader, more sociable, respectful and responsible when they see the adults around them working together on their behalf to ensure they realise their potential.

My role as Family Support Worker will aim to strengthen those links by working closely in partnership with our children, their families and other professionals who may be involved.

At times, life can be challenging and this will affect members of the family in different ways. Such as bereavement, change in family circumstances or challenging behaviour. At those times, it is most important to address the needs of our children and their families appropriately to prevent barriers to learning and emotional well-being.

I understand how important it is to be heard and to be offered the right kind help & support. Having someone to listen and respond to you, can give you a more positive ‘can do’ approach to any issues you or your child may be experiencing. I will be offering:

  • (for children) one to one/small group sessions of creative activities to build confidence & self- esteem.
  • (for parents/carers) individual meetings as well as a regular informal drop-in for parents to access advise and signposting to other services. Also, to come together to support each other and share life experiences.

If you would like to talk to me about any of the above I can be contacted via main reception or see me outside at the beginning and end of each day.

I look forward to seeing you.
