Counting in Halves and Quarters
This week the children have been counting in halves and quarters. We made a visual number line to help us.
Placing Numbers on a Numberline
The children have been learning about place value. They used this knowledge to place numbers on a number line.
Partitioning
This week Year 2 have been partitioning numbers into tens and ones and also in lots of different ways. Some children partitioned a number using dienes, while others partitioned numbers using a number sentence. They also had the opportunity to apply their knowledge by answering some reasoning questions.
3D Shapes and Their Properties
This week we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. We used our problem solving skills to identify shapes from their properties. We also got to build some 3D shapes using modelling clay and straws.
Finding a fraction of a length
This week we have been learning how to find a fraction of a shape and a number. We then applied this skill to find a fraction of a length.
