Nursery

Welcome to Nursery

In Nursery, our main aim is to provide a safe and nurturing environment which in turn will enable children to thrive and learn.

Our goals for young children are:

  • to be happy and secure in the learning environment
  • to learn through active involvement with people, materials, events and ideas
  • to be independent, confident and resilient learners
  • to explore, relate to others, to set their own goals and solve problems.

We will strive to provide the children with a rich curriculum that meets the children's interests, their well-being and yet still provides them with memorable first hand learning experiences.

We want our children to have the best possible start to their learning journey here in our wonderful Nursery!

We can't wait to work with you all,

Mrs Jackson, Mrs Muir, Mrs Tough, Miss Bateman, Miss Stronach and Kerry

Week beg 10.11 This week we have made some poppies to display and thought carefully about the meaning behind them. We have also enjoyed celebrating Nursery Rhyme week with a very exciting visit from Tiny Tweeties. We loved singing, dancing and playing our instruments to a range of songs and nursery rhymes. We have enjoyed lots of sensory play too. A very busy week in Nursery!

Enjoying Tiny Tweeties....

This morning we have enjoyed Forest Friday. Splashing, painting, potion making, rolling pumpkins and spraying the fire! Great fun was had by all!

Week beg 3.11 We have had a great week back celebrating a 4th birthday, exploring and decorating pumpkins and talking about all of the fireworks we have seen exploding in the sky over the last few nights.

Week beg 20.10 This week we have welcomed our friends from Armstrong House for some Halloween fun. We have also decorated our classroom- we loved getting dressed up. We have enjoyed exploring our gross motor skills on the climbing wall- we had to think about how to keep ourselves safe!

Week beg 13.10 We have had another busy week with a visit from nurse Wendy, we have explored our new car ramps in the construction area and we have enjoyed mark making in the flour. We have also explored lots of fine motor Autumn experiences in the tuff tray and explored melting ice with warm water! Phew what a busy week!

To celebrate Mental Health Awareness Day we spent the morning outside. We talked about the importance of getting outdoors and how good we felt with lots of fresh air and fun!

Week beg 6.10 This week we have explored lots of messy play, we have loved exploring the 'helicopter seeds' we have found as the leaves have started falling and we have created some super dens using our new den building equipment. A super week in Nursery! We are all settling so well, exploring our environment and making lots of friends.

29.9.25 We loved enjoying the rainy weather this week. We have also enjoyed exploring sponges, bubbles and washing. We have celebrated another 4th birthday this week, making another delicious cake.

22.9 This week we have enjoyed talking about cars. We have washed the cars and used the cars to mark make in the paint. We have also loved exploring the key board with Mr Parkin, loved using the cups outside to balance and we have began to explore Autumn looking at and rolling conkers.

15.9 This week we have enjoyed celebrating Mrs Tough's big birthday! We have also enjoyed lots of outdoor messy play and exploring different weathers- we loved putting on our wellies and jumping in muddy puddles!

Week beg 8.9 Week two has been a great week. We have enjoyed learning about the role of doctors and nurses, we have explored lots of fine motor opportunities and had an interest in sunflowers. We were lucky enough to explore some real sunflowers, using our observational skills to talk about what we could see and some of us decided to try and draw some. We are developing our independence all of the time and have been practising washing up our cups after snack!

Week beg 1.9 We are so pleased to welcome our returning children back to Nursery. We have had a lovely day settling back into routine and exploring the environment and we have made a cake ready to celebrate two 4th birthdays. We can't wait to start welcoming our new children from next week!
