The children have been looking at quotes from people who lived at the same time as Florence Nightingale. They had to decide whether the quote gave a positive or negative view of her. The children have discovered that information from the past can differ and we need to look at all the evidence before making our own decision.
Year 2W had a visit from 'That History Bloke' who told the children all about the conditions in Scutari Hospital during the Crimean War. The children were given the task to identify the problems in the hospital and then helped Florence Nightingale by folding sheets and putting bandages on. They were then given the opportunity to hold artefacts from that era. The children had a great time.
