Spring 2026
In the first half of the Spring term the children's focus was on some of the main festivals in Judaism. They looked at the celebrations of Passover, Yom Kippur, Hannukah and Rosh Hashanah and how some Jewish people celebrate these festivals, as well as why they are important to many Jewish people. They then explored how the festival of Sukkat is similar to Harvest Festival in Christianity.
During the second half of Spring the children explored what type of world Christians believe Jesus would have wanted. They learned how Christians believe Jesus healed the leper, and made links between some teachings in Christianity and the way people live today. They then thought about how some Christians try to show love, and some of the things that some Christians do to try to build the world they think Jesus wanted.
Autumn 2025
Year 4 started their year thinking about what the followers of Hinduism believe. They visited a Hindu Temple, learned about avatars in the Hindu faith, explored the messages that can be found in the Ramayana story, and thought about why the Mahabharata is important to Hindus.
In Autumn 2 the children learned about what many of the followers of Sikhism believe, looking at the 3 pillars of Sikhism, how what some Sikhs wear is important to their religion, and debated whether Sikhism is a religion or a way of life.
