Autumn 2026

We have spent the first half term of Year 2 learning about what some Christians believe God is like. We have learned about the parable of  the Prodigal Son and we really enjoyed our visit from Eve at Alive Church, who talked to us about the parable of Jonah and the Whale. We have reflected on these stories when exploring why some Christians believe that God is loving and forgiving, and we have thought about ways that some Christians show love to God.

Summer 2026

In the first half of the Summer term we have explored what some followers of Islam believe. We've learned about the 5 Pillars of Islam, who Allah is, and why Prophet Muhammed is important to Muslim people. 

We have looked deeper into Christianity in the second half of Summer, learning about how some Christians believe that Jesus brought good news. We have debated whether good news is only for Christians, as well as how some Christians follow the stories of Jesus to peace and forgiveness. 

Spring 2026

In Spring 1 children have explored how some of the followers of Judaism live, learning about how some Orthodox Jews dress, what some Jewish people eat, and where some Jewish people pray. 

In Spring 2 the children built upon their Year 1 work on Christianity and thought about why Easter is important to some Christians. They thought about the theme of forgiveness and how this is linked to Easter, as well as why forgiveness is important. 

Autumn 2025

Year 2 children have built upon their learning in Year 1 by exploring what Christians believe God is like. Children loved having a visit from Eve, the Children's Pastor at Alive Church, who helped the children to think about the theme of how Christians view God, and how they believe he views them.

In the second half of Autumn the children learned about Hinduism, learning about Ramayana, Moksha and Diwali, finishing their unit by comparing what Hinduism can teach us in comparison to some stories from some parables.
