Year 3W

Welcome to Year 3W

Welcome to the class where learning, laughter, and shared experiences can be found. This academic year promises an vast amount of opportunities for growth and discovery, ensuring that each moment is a stepping stone towards personal and academic excellence.

This year, Year 3W will be immersed in a whirlwind of challenges and creative ventures, designed to ignite their imaginations and push the boundaries of their learning. Collaboration will be at the heart of our learning as we navigate through a maze of exploration and thinking.

We encourage our children to show resilience and we shall nurture a classroom where every individual is cherished, and each contribution is celebrated.  Let's make this year in Year 3 unforgettable!

Make sure to check out the website weekly to see what exciting things we have been up to.

The children performed their song 'Food Groups are Rockin' Tonight' as part of the school's Harvest Festival.

The children went to Gateshead Library where they took part in a scavenger hunt of books.  At the end of the session, the children were able to choose a book to take back to school.  The children have also been to the Great North Museum to take part in a Fossil Workshop and a Prehistoric Workshop.  They were amazed at all the artefacts in the museum. Back at school, the children have been drawing British animals using shapes to draw them accurately.

Pupil of the Fortnight

These two have been amazing this fortnight!

Jayden has become the multiplication king on TTRS.  In a recent tournament, he scored more points than the whole class scored together.

Bora has exploded with confidence since the start of Year 3.  He is now contributing loads of good ideas in class and group discussions.

Well done to both children.

Fortnight Beginning 14th September 2026

The children took part in a workshop run by a coach from Durham County Cricket Club.  They were taught the basic skills of cricket of throwing and catching a ball.  They also had the opportunity to try batting.  Also this week, the children have been applying their place value knowledge to solve a range of reasoning questions.  They enjoyed the reasoning treasure hunt around the classroom.

Week Beginning 1st September 2026

What an amazing start to the new school year!  The children started the first week by looking at the art work of local artist Charlie Rogers.  They admired his paintings and then used them to draw and paint many local landmarks.  The children have also started to learn to play the ukulele with Mr Parkin.  They have already learnt two chords!  As part of their Reading, the children have been researching the author Pamela Butchart.  They have started to read one of her books.  As part of Children's Mental Health Week, the children have been discussing places where they feel they belong.  They had many places in common.

Sophie and Layla were amazing during our Art Week.  They were able to draw in detail some of the landmarks in the local area.  Sophie added lots of detail in her drawings.  Layla was able to use watercolour paints to add colours to her sketch.

Well done to both children!
