A HUGE WELCOME!
To the class page of Year 5G/B - quite possibly the most amazing class ever...
Welcome to 5G/B – the class where curiosity leads the way with fun and laughter always being part of the lesson plan! This year, we’ll be setting off on a new learning adventure. We will be exploring exciting topics, tackling new challenges, and possibly even figuring out how long a glue stick can survive or how long before pens will mysteriously disappear!! There will be lightbulb moments, lots of “aha!”s, and maybe the occasional upside-down worksheet – but we’ll do it all together. It’s going to be a brilliant year full of learning, growing, and having lots of giggles along the way!

This week, we have been focusing on poetry in English. The children were challenged to create a poem using inanimate objects within three minutes. Here is one of them!
I wait for night to fall,
Oh, I know how to play the ball.
I can dance, I can float,
I'm basically an invisible boat.
My pray, my food,
I have a nasty mood.
I give everyone a fright,
I hide when the sun is bright.
What am I?
How amazing are the Y5 children!
Our Pupils of the week this week are... Aylor and Harry. They both strive to give 110% in EVERYTHING they do. Well done to you both.
Week Commencing 21/09/26
Once again, we are having a fun-packed week! We have started the week with Eve from Alive Church teaching our RE lesson. We asked whether she believes religion and science go together or are they separate?
We've been out and about visiting The Great North Museum where we have been looking at the AR experience, Odyssey. This is the interactive tablet quest where the children research and create a form of avatar.
We have ended the week by supporting our School Council members. They have been raising money alongside Gemma for Macmillan Cancer. We have purchased cakes and wore non-school uniform to help.
Take a look at this week's adventures!

What can I say! What a start we have had to the 2026-2027 academic year! We have completed our art project and started our lessons head-on! All of Y5GB children have more than excelled themselves, making Miss Hindmarch and myself so, so proud. To top it off, we have our very first Pupils of the Week! The amazing Jessica, who has come into Y5 with a positive attitude and beautiful handwriting, and the fantastic Isaac, who has shown incredible resilience to complete his art project - even though he found this really tricky. Well done to you both for becoming the first two children to receive the award.
