Welcome to Year 4B, where every day is a chance to shine because “Every Child is a Star!” This year is going to be packed with exciting learning, new challenges and wonderful opportunities to achieve our very best. We are a hardworking class who always try our best, support one another and take pride in everything we do. As we learn, discover and grow together, we will enjoy memorable trips, take part in fun experiences and create lasting memories along the way. Most importantly, we will build kindness, confidence and friendships that can last a lifetime. We cannot wait to share our journey with you and show just how brightly every star in Year 4B can shine! ✨🌟

First Week Back!
What an amazing first week back we have had. The children have been INCREDIBLE and have knocked both my and Miss Caine's socks off. We have focused on the basics in English by using accurate punctuation and building engaging sentences when describing settings. In Maths, the children were introduced to 4-digit numbers, learning how to write them in words and figures before comparing, ordering and even rounding them! Amazing!
In other subjects, we classified vertebrates in Science using their properties to decide how to group them. In PE, Mr Smith played games including tennis to get the children used to playing competitively. In RE, as you can see in the photos below, the children used clay to create Avatars which some followers of Hinduism believe Gods take the form of when on Earth. Computing saw the children be introduced to variables when playing games (which they will end up making themselves) and in PSHEC, Miss Caine talked the children about how we show respect to other people in different situations.

Pupil of the Week - 11.09.26
A huge well done to Gabriella and Joel for being the first winners of the Year 4B Pupils of the Week for this year. Both children have made an amazing start to life in Year 4 and we couldn't be prouder of their work ethics and positive attitudes. Gabriella has shown amazing role model skills by supporting her classmates and never giving up on difficult maths work. Joel has been an amazing friend and has shone in his writing by using amazing punctuation. Well done to you both!
Art Week
During the children's first few days, we focused on completing one of our units of Art. We chose the 'Mega Materials' unit in which the children were asked to create a range of different sculptures. We looked at the work of a number of artists including Barbara Hepworth and Sokari Douglas Camp and use them as inspiration for their own pieces. We practised creating 3D shapes from 2D drawings using curved chalk lines. We used soap as a medium for creating our own sculptures which have often human or organic shapes and textures. Finally, we created shadow sculptures using words chosen by the children which tell the viewer something about themselves. Overall, we couldn't be happier with the work the children have produced and we think we have a class of artists on our hands! Well done everyone!
