Year 5M

Welcome to the Wonderful Year 5M!

Welcome to our Year 5 webpage! This year promises to be an exciting journey of discovery, creativity and learning as the children continue to grow in confidence and independence.

Throughout the year, our pupils will explore fascinating new topics, develop important skills and challenge themselves across all areas of the curriculum. From investigating historical events and scientific discoveries to solving mathematical problems and creating imaginative pieces of writing, every day brings new opportunities to learn and succeed.

We encourage our children to be curious, resilient and enthusiastic learners who are not afraid to ask questions, share ideas and embrace new challenges. As they progress through Year 5, they will build on their previous learning, work collaboratively with others and develop the skills needed for the next stage of their education.

We look forward to sharing their achievements, experiences and memorable moments with you throughout the year. Together, let's make Year 5 a fantastic adventure filled with learning, discovery and success! 🌟📚✨

Pupil Of The Week! In this section you will find our two exemplary pupils who have really impressed us with hard work this week! This week, Charlotte has produced some amazing writing and Murad found his voice when reading our novel- Secrets of a Sun King. A huge well done to you both!

On Monday, 5M ended the day with a cricket session with a coach. We learned the rules and techniques whilst practising our catching and throwing skills.

Today 5M went on a trip first thing this morning to Gateshead Library to partake in a treasure hunt! They were all given the opportunity to pick a new book to read from when in school.

This week, Year 5 have been making poetry about inanimate objects. Here is a small selection.

I keep secrets within my soul,

staying silent is my goal,

I have spells,

Long and forgotten,

I keep my power hidden,

Until I explode,

I am a pet,

The witches pet,

I am a potion.

-Billie

Hello everybody welcome to my house,

There's a lot of stuff here I think there's a mouse,

My room is red,

Oh look! There's a mouse on my bed,

Wow it's a wonderful garden,

When a stranger is here I disappear.

-Krishiv

The Cook Book

I am used to cook recipes in a book,

I have to have people look,

The pan is hot the cooking fan is on,

I always get used,

Never abused,

I am a cook book!

-Himika

I am dusty and rusty,

I get used for trees,

In the trees,

Are bees putting honey in their teas.

-Charlotte

I am a worn out book,

Waiting to be read,

But instead of reading,

They just go to bed.

Almost everyday they go to school,

They forget to read me,

They are fools,

Nobody knows I'm an interesting book,

Instead their parents just cook.

-Dahlia

This is my story,

I used to be a human but sadly passed,

My soul remains on Earth,

I remember everything,

My memories are remembered,

I am forgotten,

I am a skeleton.

-Alfie

I am a gluestick,

I stick things in,

People use me to stick sheets of paper on sheets of paper,

There's really no use,

They only do it to make it look good,

Hey kid, put my lid on!

They always forget my lid...come on...

-Jarvis

The pumpkin's guts.

A pumpkin met a munchkin,

I hold it in,

I spew my guts up,

While the munchkin goes to get his cup.

-Estelle

For World Mental Health Week, we thought about al of the people and things that matter to us and illustrated them .

Today, Year 5 went on their trip to the Great North Museum. They used iPads given to them from the museum to complete a time odyssey and explore different sections of history.

On Monday afternoon, Year 5 partook in a fun-filled Muddy monsters session. They had to independently put up hammocks between trees and even created dens using tarp.

In RE, we are thinking about if the creation story conflicts with or compliments the scientific explanation for the creation of the universe. We began with the story from Genesis 1 in the Bible.

Today in maths, we have been ordering numbers by competing against others on our tables. We had fun whilst learning along the way!
