Year 1

Spring 2026

We spent the first half term of Spring focusing on Judaism and the main characteristics of this religion. We explored who are some important people to Jewish people, looked at some artefacts that are special to some Jewish people, and how Jewish people believe the world was created. We really enjoyed playing bingo to test what we had learned!

We spent the second half of Spring learning about the lead up to Easter Sunday in Christianity, what Christians believe happened during this week, and how some Christians celebrate Easter. It was lovely to have a visit from Eve at Alive Church, who talked to us about the events that Christians believe happened on Good Friday.

Autumn 2025

Our focus in Autumn term in Year 1 has been Christianity. Children in explored how Christians believe the world was created, and how they believe God sees humans as unique and precious. In Autumn 2 the children learned about the story of the Nativity, and why Christmas is important to Christians, as well as why some non-Christians now celebrate at this time of year.
