Welcome to Reception, for some children the beginning of their schooling. We understand that this can be an exciting but nerve wracking time for both children and parents. Through this stage of their learning journey, the children will be learning through a balance of child-initiated play, carefully supported by knowledgeable staff and adult-initiated small group activities. They will be busy exploring and discovering exciting activities, both in and out of the classroom, including visits and visitors.
This website, Weduc and Tapestry, will keep you updated on all aspects of your child’s learning.
In maths, we have been looking at different forms of measure e.g. mass, height, capacity. We also looked at how to make different types of patterns e.g. colour, sound and shape. In RWInc, we are continuing to learn new sounds and read CVC words. We had a fantastic time at our first Muddy Monsters, we had so much fun exploring and being adventurous. We also were amazing in our Harvest festival performance!
We can't believe how quick our first half term is already going in Reception! We have had so much fun getting to explore our new classroom. We have enjoyed being creative in the cut and stick and painting areas. In maths we have been looking at matching and finding the odd one out in a set. In RWInc we have been working on initial sounds and mark making. On Friday we came to school in non-uniform to raise money for MacMillan cancer charity.
What a lovely first couple of weeks we've had settling into our Reception classroom. We've had so much fun exploring our environment and making new friendships. We can't wait to see all the fun we get up to in this year!
