Welcome to Year 6DH

A bucketful of determination, a scattering of mistakes, a shed load of happiness, heaps of teamwork, a huge scoop of enthusiasm and a pinch of nerves, mixed in with a lot of friendship and laughter, is what you will find in the Year 6DH classroom as we enjoy our final year at Brighton Avenue Primary School.

We will work extremely hard and be faced with a range of challenges yet we will also party hard and enjoy the rewards! Throughout this year, we show our brilliant behaviour and amazing attitudes to ensure that we reach all of our goals and fulfil our potential.

From studying the historical discovery of the tombs during the Ancient Maya times to exploring the natural geographical features our world, we will be developing our questioning, reasoning and critical thinking skills which will help us on our journey into Year 7!

w/c 12th October 2026- Fencing

We had a taster Fencing session in school this week. We loved developing some new fencing skills. Take a look at the fun we had below!

w/c 5th October- Harvest Festival, History and Science

Over the past half term, we have been exploring the Ancient Maya civilisation! This week, we have been pretending to be Historians analysing a range of different artefacts from the time period. We have been building up evidence to show what it was like to live during the Ancient Maya times, as well as finding out more about the importance of Gods and sacrifice in their daily lives, which shocked us all. 

In Science, we have been planning and carrying out our own fitness routines, using a range of aerobic exercises, to help make sure we have healthy hearts, by pumping lots of oxygen around our bodies!

w/c 21st September 2026- Cricket

This week, we had a cricket coach to come in and deliver a cricket session, where we had the opportunity to build on our cricket skills from Year 5. We had the opportunity to bat, bowl and field, working on our teamwork skills throughout. It was a lovely sunny day to top it all off!

w/c 7th September- Art

We have had a fantastic start to our Autumn 1 Art project: Drawing! We have further developed our graffiti skills and we have looked at one point perspectives, using drawing a horizon line, to create our own scenes. Take a look at the amazing pieces of art we have been producing below!

A huge well done to both of our pupils of the week for the 1st Pupil of the Week! Jada- you have come back to school after the summer gleaming with confidence. Keira- you have wowed me with the detail in your art! You showed so much talent.
